iPhone ads be with AT&T
Apple involved the dispute between AT&T and Verizon about 3G coverage because of two ads that defended its U.S. mobile partner.
Both ads focus on the iPhone’s ability to allow you to use voice and data capabilities simultaneously over the AT&T network. By asking gently at the end of each spot “Can your phone and your network do that?” Apple is bursting what it sees as the inflated stealth bombing that accompanied the launch of the Droid.
Verizon recently launched an ad campaign that claims AT&T offers inferior 3G wireless coverage. AT&T responded with a lawsuit unsuccessfully asking the court to block Verizon’s commercials, and then launched its own mediocre commercial attempting to show that its services are better.
AT&T has much to worry about in 2010 as it tries to hold on to its status as the exclusive iPhone carrier in the United States, especially now that the end of iPhone exclusivity has meant significant spikes in iPhone business in other parts of the world.
