by Torres on Nov.15, 2008, under Mobile Phone, news

Samsung Eternity touchscreen phone is available for sale recently through AT&T Web site. It’s not quite the Samsung Omnia that folks are eagerly awaiting for, but it’s a step or two in that direction.

The a867 Eternity has quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band 850/1900MHz 3G radios on board. It also carries GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP stereo, and a 3 megapixel camera with Video Share.

AT&T Mobile TV offers instant access to continuous streaming of television content, events and programming like CBS Mobile, CNBC, Comedy Central, FOX News, FOX Mobile, NBC 2Go, MSNBC, ESPN Mobile TV, MTV, Nickelodeon, CNN Mobile and PIX. All the new subscribers can visit AT&T store or AT&T website for a free 30-day trial. Samsung Eternity’s TouchWiz user interface allows instant access to various functions like the clock, music player, instant messaging, photos and AT&T Mobile TV.

The chrome and black exterior are sleek and undeniably cool. There are only three physical keys on the lower portion of the phone and these make navigation a very simple task. Then there’s the built-in accelerometer that will detect motion and orientation to modify the screen display automatically to suit motion sensing games and facilitate photo scrolling.

The Samsung Eternity is priced at $149.99 (approx Rs. 7,315) with a two-year service agreement and $50 mail-in rebate. It is available through AT&T retail locations or online at Wireless AT&T website.

AT&T Quickfire phone is launched

by Torres on Nov.11, 2008, under Mobile Phone, news

AT&T has released the availability of the AT&T Quickfire phone, a quick messaging mobile phone designed to make messaging faster and easier.

The Quickfire phone is equipped with quad band GSM and a tri band for speedy transfer of data. As the phone will run on AT&T high speed 3G HSDPA networks it will allow the user to download music with Napster Mobile and eMusic Mobile. The phone also includes the AT&T Navigator so the customers will get voice help on the directions and traffic information. The Quickfire phone boasts about the AT&T cellular video (CV) service through which the users can watch and download news or music videos with HBO Mobile or sports on ESPN.

The AT&T Quickfire comes in a slider form factor, and in addition to the full QWERTY keypad (an essential when it comes to any self-respecting messaging phone), you will also get an interactive touch screen display to help out in navigation of the user interface throughout various stages. The camera is not much to shout about – 1.3 megapixels ought to be enough to capture casual shots, but you can forget about it if you’re planning on using the Quickfire as a replacement for your dedicated digital camera. This 3G world phone allows you to read your messages in either portrait or landscape mode, and with a decent data plan, you are able to download music via AT&T’s 3G network using Napster Mobile and eMusic Mobile. Other features include AT&T Navigator that provides for turn-by-turn directions, although your use of it will be limited to a 30-day free trial, where you are required to fork out more money after that assuming you want to continue using this service.

Mark Collins, vice president of voice and data services for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, said: “The AT&T Quickfire is perfect for texting fans who let their thumbs do the talking and want the benefit of a full keypad but don’t need corporate e-mail access or other business features.”
